RAYON Sport is trying to lure Hamad Ndikumana a.k.a Katauti back to the club according to the club’s Secretary General Olivier Gakwaya.
The 33-year-old center back is currently without a club after being released by Cyprus first division side APOP Kinyras Peyias and is keen on re-uniting with his former club but only on a short-term contract as he continues to look for a European club.
“We are still discussing with him but no agreement has been reached yet,” Gakwaya said.
“He has made it clear that if a European club comes calling, we should not stand in his way but we remain hopeful that we can secure a season-long deal with him,” Gakwaya said.
Rayon believes Katauti can be a perfect replacement for Faustin Usengimana, who is expected to feature for the U-20 side in the Primus League.
The U-20 side is made of players who graduated from the U-17 side that took part in the 2011 Fifa U-17 World Cup in Mexico.
Katauti enjoyed five seasons at Rayon between 1995 and 2000 before joining Anorthosis. The player has also featured for KV Mechelen, APOP Kinyras Peyias, Nea Salamina and KAA Gent.
