> It is now half a Century since most African countries got independence
> from direct colonial rule.  A network for African’s Unity, together
> with a number of African organizations have organized events to
> observe the 50 years of independence in a remarkable manner.

> United by the common history and common destiny, Africans have united
> to make the year 2010 a turning point in as far as fostering the unity
> of Africans for the common goal of African emancipation is concerned.
> The initiators have invited the Africa Diaspora i.e. individuals and
> African organizations from different parts of Africa who are based in
> Sweden and African students to play a role in making this project a
> success.
>
> In cooperation with the ABF, initiators of this project are organizing
> a range of events from 1st-07th August 2010 in Stockholm. These events
> include; presentations, lectures and panel debates by highly
> knowledgeable, qualified and  experienced researchers. There will be
> exhibitions of African visual art, film shows, children’s
> entertainment activities, traditional dance shows, fashion shows,
> African food, cultural events and an African music gala night.

> The year 2010 is symbolic for it marks the beginning of an annual
> undertaking for the unity of all Africans in Sweden united to promote
> African values and culture, reminding themselves of the African
> history, looking at the challenges and possibilities of Africa’s
> development with a view to increasing the role of African Diaspora in
> Africa’s development.

> COMING EVENTS:

> A. Lectures and panel debates, cultural exhibitions, traditional dance
> and film-shows will take place  on 6th August from 1200 – 1800.

> Lectures include
> 1. The history of Africa; before, during and post-colonial times

> Exhibitions:

> 2. Visual Art work of African men and women which illustrate Africa’s
> history through poetic skills. Books on development of democracy and
> the struggle for justice and human rights issues will also be
> exhibited as part of the entertainment.

> 3. Traditional dances featuring Kora and Djembe will be part of the
> entertainment
>
> 4. The whole day will offer children’s entertainment activities in
> different halls.

> The venue is  ABF Huset, Sundbyberg, Esplanaden 3C. Entrance is free.

> B. African Music gala /dance on 7 th August 2010, Bromma nöjes palats,
> ULVSUNDAVÄGEN 106 BROMMA from 20:00:00-06:00. Enrence is 100 kr
> (including African buffet).

> AIM
> The Aim is to unite all Africans living in Sweden and make remarkable
> GOLDEN JUBILEE of African independence with a unique display of unity
> and Africa’s history from a neutral perspective.

> The organizers intend to present an overview of Africa’s development
> under the 50 years of independence and focus on Africa’s challenges
> with a view to identifying opportunities for cooperation which can
> contribute to Africa’s democracy development, sustainable social,
> economic development and total independence in a globalized world.
