Mother suspected of abducting own kids

A 45-year-old woman from southern Sweden and her two children have been missing for three months, presumed to be hiding from authorities after social services took the two kids into care.

We have no idea where either mother or children are at present,” said prosecutor Tom Svensson to local paper Hälsingborgs Dagblad.

The social services decided to take over responsibility of the two children after it had come to their attention that the woman was lacking in her care for them both when it came to food and hygiene.

She had previously been barred from keeping animals after authorities found several puppies locked up in a toilet where the floor was completely covered in faeces.

The woman was convicted of animal cruelty and according to the paper the verdict stated that she had a documented history of mental problems.

The woman appealed the custody decision of her children in the administrative court in Gothenburg but was denied. During the hearing, representatives from the social services testified as to the woman’s lack of cooperation.

However, some three months ago the woman and the children suddenly disappeared and there has been no sign of them since.

A warrant for the woman’s arrest on suspicion of kidnapping has been issued, which could mean authorities are suspecting that the three are somewhere abroad.

However, authorities were not willing to comment as to any suspicions regarding the woman’s whereabouts. An in absentia remand hearing will be held on Thursday, according to the paper.
